The Gospel of Grace

The Gospel has several names in the Bible. It was referred to as the Gospel of the kingdom, the Gospel about Jesus Christ, the Gospel of God, the Gospel of His Son, the Gospel of Christ, the Gospel of the Glory of Christ, the Gospel of your Salvation, and the Gospel of Peace. The apostle Paul referred to it as the “Gospel of God’s Grace”.

Gospel - euaggelion (euangelion) - simply means “Good News

The Apostle Paul said: "Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's Grace." (Acts 20:24b). In the book of Romans, Apostle Paul gave us a solid idea of what the gospel is all about.

Romans 1:16-17
"I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith".

The Gospel is about salvation, God’s way of salvation and the power of God for salvation.

Romans 1:16
"I am not ashamed of the gospel because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes."

The Gospel is about the righteousness from God.

Romans 1:17
"For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed."

In the Gospel, God has made known a righteousness that He is willing to give to everyone who believes.

The bible declares that:
"There is no one righteous, not even one." (Romans 3:10)
"All our righteous acts are like filthy rags." (Isaiah 64:6b)

The basic issue is righteousness and without the righteousness that is required by God, you will not make it to heaven.

The Gospel is received by faith.

Romans 1:17
"For in the gospel a righteousness from God is revealed, a righteousness that is by faith from first to last."

The Gospel is for all.

Romans 1:16b
"First for the Jew, then for the Gentile."

The Gospel is God's way of calling us out of darkness into His marvelous light.

2 Thessalonians 2:14
"He called you to this through our gospel, that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ."

The Gospel is the truth that will set you free.

John 8:32
"You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free."

Colossians 1:6
"All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth."

If the gospel is rejected, punishment awaits those who reject the gospel of grace.

            2 Thessalonians 1:8-10
"He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord."

We, Christians are commanded to grow in the grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

            2 Peter 3:18
"But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ."

The gospel is the truth that will set you free.
