THE DOCTRINE OF GOD’S GRACE
THERE IS A DOCTRINE IN THE BIBLE THAT WAS TAUGHT BY THE APOSTLE PAUL THAT WHEN BELIEVED AND OBEYED SETS YOU FREE FROM SIN AND MAKES YOU SLAVE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS.
(Romans 6:17-18). “But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of doctrine to which you were delivered. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness.”
THE APOSTLE PAUL WAS CHOSEN BY OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST TO BE AN APOSTLE TO THE GENTILES.
(Gal. 2:6-8) “As for those who seemed to be important--whatever they were makes no difference to me; God does not judge by external appearance--those men added nothing to my message. On the contrary, they saw that I had been entrusted with the task of preaching the gospel to the Gentiles, just as Peter had been to the Jews. For God, who was at work in the ministry of Peter as an apostle to the Jews, was also at work in my ministry as an apostle to the Gentiles.”
IN HIS LETTER TO TIMOTHY, PAUL SAID THAT HE WAS APPOINTED A HERALD, AN APOSTLE AND A TEACHER OF THE GOSPEL.
(2 Tim 1:11) “And of this gospel I was appointed a herald and an apostle and a teacher.”
AND IN THE BOOK OF GALATIANS HE SAID THAT CHRIST HIMSELF REVEALED TO HIM THE GOSPEL OR THE GOOD NEW THAT HE WAS PREACHING.
(Gal. 1:11-12) “I want you to know, brothers that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received
it by revelation from Jesus Christ”
SOME BELIEVERS WHO BELONGED TO THE PARTY OF THE PHARISEES APPARENTLY WENT TO DIFFERENT GENTILE CHURCHES AND PERSUADED THEM TO BE CIRCUMCISED AND TO OBEY THE LAW MOSES TO BE SAVED,
(Acts 15:1) “Some men came down from Judea to Antioch and were teaching the brothers: ‘Unless you are circumcised, according to the custom taught by Moses, you cannot be saved.’”

(Acts 15:5) “Then some of the believers who belonged to the party of the Pharisees stood up and said, "The Gentiles must be circumcised and required to obey the law of Moses."
AND IT BECAME KNOWN TO THE APOSTLE PAUL THAT THE CHURCHES IN GALATIA ALREADY SUCCUMBED TO THEIR TEACHINGS, HE REBUKED THEM SHARPLY.
(Gal. 1:6-9) “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel--which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned!”
IT’S INTERESTING TO NOTE THAT MIXTURE OF THE GOSPEL OF CHRIST (GRACE) AND THE TEACHINGS OF MOSES (LAW) ACCORDING TO PAUL IS NO GOSPEL AT ALL; IT IS A PERVERSION OF THE GOSPEL MESSAGE. ALSO NOTICE THAT HE EVEN SAID, “But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned!”
PAUL FOLLOWED IT WITH SOME RHETORICAL QUESTIONS.
(Galatians 3:1-3) “You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. I would like to learn just one thing from you:
(Gal. 3:2) “Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard?”
(Gal. 3:3) “Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort?
(Gal. 3:5) “Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?”
IN THE BOOK OF ACTS, THE APOSTLE PAUL REFERRED TO THE GOSPEL THAT WAS ENTRUSTED TO HIM BY THE RISEN CHRIST AS “THE GOSPEL OF GOD’S GRACE”
(Acts 20:24) “However, I consider my life worth nothing to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given me--the task of testifying to the Gospel of God's Grace.”
IN THE SAME CHAPTER OF THAT BOOK HE REFERRED TO IT AS THE “WORD OF HIS GRACE”
(Acts 20:32) “Now I commit you to God and to the Word of His Grace, which can build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified”

INTERESTINGLY ENOUGH ONLY THE “WORD OF HIS GRACE” CAN BUILD YOU UP AND GIVE YOU AN INHERITANCE AMONG THE ALL BELIEVERS.
IN HIS EPISTLE TO THE COLOSSIANS, HE REFERRED TO THE GOSPEL AS THE
IN HIS EPISTLE TO THE COLOSSIANS, HE REFERRED TO THE GOSPEL AS THE
“WORD OF TRUTH”.
(Col 1:5b-6) “You have already heard about in the Word of Truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.
SIMILARLY, IN THE BOOK OF EPHESIANS, HE ALSO REFERRED TO THE GOSPEL AS THE “WORD OF TRUTH”
(Eph 1:13-14) “And you also were included in Christ when you heard the Word of Truth, the Gospel of your salvation. Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit, who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession--to the praise of his glory.”
IT IS THEREFORE, A MUST FOR US TO ASK THE HOLY SPIRIT TO GIVE US “THE SPIRIT OF WISDOM AND REVELATION” IN READING AND STUDYING THE BIBLE.
(Eph. 1:17) “I keep asking…….the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better.”
WHEN THE LORD JESUS CHRIST SAID, “You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free” (John 8:32).
(Col 1:5b-6) “You have already heard about in the Word of Truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God's grace in all its truth.

HE WAS ACTUALLY REFERRING TO THE “GOSPEL OF GOD’S GRACE” OR THE “WORD OF HIS GRACE” OR THE “WORD OF TRUTH” WHICH WAS LATER REVEALED TO THE APOSTLE PAUL.
THE DOCTRINE THAT THE APOSTLE PAUL TEACHES WAS DEFINITELY THE “GOSPEL OF GOD’S GRACE” OR THE “WORD OF HIS GRACE” WHICH WHEN BELIEVED, SETS YOU FREE FROM SIN AND MAKES YOU A SLAVE TO RIGHTEOUSNESS.
(Romans 6:17-18). “But thanks be to God that, though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of doctrine (“Gospel of God’s Grace”) to which you were delivered. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to
righteousness.”
THE DOCTRINE OF THE NEW COVENANT THAT CHRIST MEDIATED IS WITHOUT A DOUBT
THE “GOSPEL OF GOD’S GRACE” OR
THE “WORD OF HIS GRACE” OR
THE “WORD OF TRUTH”
IS ABOUT THE BEAUTY OF GOD’S GRACE, THE BEAUTY OF THE FINISHED WORK OF JESUS CHRIST ON THE CROSS AND THE EXCELLENCE OF HIS NEW COVENANT.
IT WAS FOR THIS REASON THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS GIVEN; TO MAKE KNOWN WHAT CHRIST ACCOMPLISHED AND BRING GLORY TO HIM ALONE.
(John 15:26) “When the Counselor comes, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who goes out from the Father, he will testify about me”
(John 16:14) “He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you”
THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS GIVEN TO HELP US UNDERSTAND GOD’S GRACE:
THE HOLY SPIRIT WAS GIVEN TO HELP US UNDERSTAND GOD’S GRACE:
GOD’S UNMERITED FAVOR.
(1Cor 2:12) “We have not received the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God, that we may understand what God has freely given us.”
GOD USES THE “GOSPEL OF GRACE” IN CALLING PEOPLE OUT OF DARKNESS INTO HIS MARVELOUS LIGHT.
(2 Thess. 2:14) “He called you to this through our gospel that you might share in the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.”
CHRISTIANS ARE ADMONISHED TO GROW IN THE GRACE AND THE KNOWLEDGE OF OUR LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS CHRIST!
(2 Peter 3:18) “But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”
WE CANNOT SET ASIDE THE GRACE OF GOD!
(Gal 2:21) “I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!”
PUNISHMENT AWAITS THOSE WHO DO NOT OBEY THE “GOSPEL OF GOD’S GRACE”.
(2 Thess. 1:8-10) “He will punish those who do not know God and do not obey the Gospel of our Lord Jesus. They will be punished with everlasting destruction and shut out from the presence of the Lord.”
