“THE POWER OF SIN IS THE LAW” (1 Cor. 15:56b) THE GOOD NEWS IS THAT WE ARE NO LONGER UNDER LAW BUT UNDER GRACE. “For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under Law, but under grace” (Rom. 6:14).
THE ONLY TIME SIN HAS NO POWER OVER YOU IS WHEN YOU ARE UNDER GRACE. BRETHREN, IN THE NEW COVENANT, WE ARE UNDER GRACE, UNDER THE UNMERITED FAVOR OF GOD. YOU DON’T EARN IT, DESERVE IT, MERIT IT OR WORK FOR IT.
FURTHERMORE, THE BIBLE SAYS, “He forgave us all our sins, having canceled the written code, with its regulations, that was against us and that stood opposed to us; he took it away, nailing it to the cross (Col 2:14).”
PAUL IN THE BOOK OF ROMANS SAYS, “We know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law (Rom. 3:19).”
AND WE ARE NOT UNDER LAW!
ARE WE THEN LICENSED TO COMMIT SIN BECAUSE WE ARE UNDER GRACE? BY NO MEANS! UNDER GRACE WE BECOME SLAVES TO RIGHTEOUSNESS “You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness” (Rom. 6:18).
THE DEVIL KNOWS THAT UNDER GRACE, WE ARE REQUIRED TO LIVE BY FAITH SO HE TRIES TO WEAKEN AND DESTROY OUR FAITH BY CONDEMNATION. YOU SEE, ONLY UNDER LAW THAT THE DEVIL CAN BRING ACCUSATION AND CONDEMNATION AGAINST YOU, BUT THE BIBLE IS CLEAR ABOUT OUR POSITION, “THERE IS NOW NO CONDEMNATION TO THOSE WHO ARE IN CHRIST”. AND WE ARE IN CHRIST!
YOU NEED TO KNOW YOUR RIGHTS AND PRIVILEGES UNDER THE NEW COVENANT OF GRACE. YOU NEED TO KNOW WHAT JESUS WON AND EARNED FOR YOU AT THE CROSS SO YOU CAN TOTALLY REST IN HIM. WE ARE ADMONISHED TO “Grow in the grace and the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ” (2 Pet. 3:18).
LEARN MORE ABOUT HIS GRACE, HIS PERSON AND HIS FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS. AFTER ALL, JESUS WAS THE MEDIATOR OF THE NEW COVENANT.
JESUS WAS THE ONE WHO FULFILLED ALL THE RIGHTEOUS REQUIREMENTS OF THE LAW ON OUR BEHALF. HE WAS THE ONE PUNISHED FOR OUR SINS. HE WAS THE ONE FORSAKEN BECAUSE OF OUR SINS. HE WAS THE ONE CURSED FOR OUR SINS. HE WAS THE ONE BRUISED FOR OUR SINS.
THE MORE CHRIST IS REVEALED TO YOU THE MORE FAITH YOU WILL HAVE. “Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ” (Rom. 10:17).
THE MORE CHRIST IS REVEALED TO YOU, THE STRONGER CHRISTIAN YOU WILL BE. IT’S ALL ABOUT HIS FINISHED WORK ON THE CROSS! IT’S ALL ABOUT HIS GRACE! DO NOT LIVE YOUR LIFE AS IF THE CROSS DOES NOT MATTER. IT’S ALL ABOUT CHRIST!
