Doing God's Will

John 19:28 - After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

Believing in Jesus Christ saves us from Hell by breaking the curse of imprisonment in Hell till our spiritual dead (at the same time suffering there the sins we committed in our earthly life), but then we do not go to Heaven unless we do God's Will in other words keep God's Word.

People who do not have the understanding of what Jesus meant by keeping His Father's Word, would get very uneasy for there is no possibility one can truly keep every Word of the Father. Does that mean we all have no chance to enter Heaven?

Today's message is a very good example of understanding the factor of keeping God's Word. This is not the only scripture which states Jesus fulfilled all scriptures in the books of Moses and the Prophets concerning Him. But we need to ask ourselves did Jesus really fulfil all scriptures concerning Him at that moment? How is it possible that even before His resurrection it is said He fulfilled all things. Again after resurrection when Jesus explaining about Himself to the two persons in the wilderness He again claims to have fulfilled all scriptures concerning Him.

Even today there are scriptures concerning Jesus which still has to be fulfilled like that of His second coming and His coming in glory written both in the books of Moses and the Prophets.

We also see this same factor when the scriptures state 'He finished' or Jesus says 'it is finished', yet we find the work yet in process.

We find when Jesus finished His teachings on the Mount of Olives it is written 'finished' meant Jesus completed His job of teaching and when He completed His task of suffering for His people He said it is finished as in today's scripture.

If we read the first commandment of the two commandments that summarize the Law of God we see a small variation between it when stated in the different Gospels.

Matthew 22:37 - Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.

Mark 12:30 - And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment.

Luke 10:27 - And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; ...

We see Mark and Luke added 'with all they strength' to it. They were not changing any part of the commandment but were bringing out the meaning of the words 'with all they heart', 'all thy mind' and 'all they soul'.

We need to realize we are all still studying and understanding the Word of God even after 2 millenniums of Christ's coming therefore there is no way we came keep what we do not have a full understanding of.

God does not expect us keep at any time to fulfil or keep every word of His Word / Will. What He expects of us is that, what we know till that point which has been revealed, received and have understood by us, to be kept.

It is written on the Judgment Day it is the Word of God which will judge us. The Word will judge us not comparing one to another but according to what we have received and kept. Therefore we cannot be and should not be as good or righteous as what the person next to us is or a person known to us, but we need to be true and keeping the Word according to what we have been given by the Lord. It is also the reason that the more that is given to a person, the more is expected of the person and also the reason we cannot by our human ability judge anyone for how good or bad the person is and that that person will enter or not enter Heaven. We need to just do our part of keeping the Word we received and encourage others to do the same. We can only warn people who become a stumbling block in the lives of others.

Today's message also does not mean knowing less is safer for we need to realize the more we know and follow the greater strength and ability we get in keeping what we know and will know. So we need to keep moving on as Jesus did from stage to stage and also fulfil as He did from stage to stage.
